TONSHOU is a popular tonkatsu specialty restaurant that originated in Busan, South Korea, and is known for being the first in Singapore to offer charcoal-grilled tonkatsu. They use a unique four-step cooking process to create a crispy exterior while keeping the inside tender and juicy.
The Singapore branch opened in January 2025 and is located on Tras Street. The restaurant does not accept reservations, and all seating is counter-style. It operates daily from 11:00 AM to 8:30 PM.
TONSHOU’s signature menu features a variety of tonkatsu sets made with premium Australian white pork and Hokkaido black pork from Japan. The “Hire Katsu” is especially praised for its soft and succulent texture. Each set comes with cold corn potage, cabbage salad, kimchi, and miso soup with daikon, carrots, onions, and pork belly.
TONSHOU has quickly gained popularity in Singapore, earning an impressive 4.9-star rating on Google within just a few weeks of opening. Additionally, they share the latest updates and menu information through their Instagram account (@tonshou_sg).
