Herbivore, the vegetarian Japanese restaurant located near Bugis, Singapore serves pure vegan cuisine prepared in Japanese and Western style. Its menu is specially crafted to offer a wide variety of choices using the finest and freshness natural as well as organic plant based ingredients.
Mr. Ho, a vegetarian himself for more than 23 years, has been actively creating new dining choices which will attract more vegetarian and non-vegetarians to enjoy vegetarian cuisines.
Having the vision to create the first vegetarian restaurant in Singapore, prompting Mr.Ho and the Japanese Chef Mr. Yasui Masa to form Zen Japanese Vegetarian Restaurant in March 2010.

Unlike the usual stereotype that vegan dishes are just all green, Herbivore serves from simple dishes such as Udon, Soba, Japanese Curry Rice to popular meals such as Tonkatsu, Donburi, Nabe, Sushi, and Sashimi all made out of vegan ingredients including plant-based food.

Where is Herbivore at?: Bugis
Herbivore Singapore is at 190, 13/14 Middle Rd, #1 Fortune Centre which is nearby Bugis MRT station. Since it opens at 11:30 am, right before lunch peak our, we recommend you to arrive as early as possible. Normally the restaurant is crowded after 12:00 pm.
At the entrance, the menu on the table PCs greets the customers. You can preview the menu and decide what to eat before getting inside of the restaurant.
The interior of the restaurant is clean and classy. Especially with the self-ordering system with the tablet PCs on each table (refer to the picture above), it makes the debating and ordering menu process much easier, faster, and more comfortable.

Herbivore has 50+ iPads to provide an easy and convenient menu ordering experience for the customers. People see the menu through the menu ordering program called N-menu. It operates on any device such as tablet PCs, or mobile phones.
It helps customers order the menu items by themselves without waiters and waitresses. So before the staff comes to you and asks what you want, you will see the picture and decide what to eat by themselves. Once the order is done, the orders will be sent directly to the kitchen

Fishless Sushi and Meatless Tonkatsu can taste better than normal Japanese food
A few minutes later getting the table, we were able to order without any server’s help thanks to N-Menu.
While waiting for the food, we couldn’t help but get excited as it was our first time trying all vegan dishes like this. The idea of whole “Meatless meat” was still new to some of us. We were wondering how different they would be from the pictures in real life.
Then- voila! The food items we ordered just arrived.
Would you believe it they are all made of organic plant-based ingredients if I didn’t mention it? Everything looked exactly the same as the image of the normal food I had. The visual and quality of the Herbivore’s dishes were every bit as good as that of normal Japanese cuisine made with real meat.

Not only Take-away but Islandwide delivery is also available. Since there are too many orders coming in through the restaurant’s hotline, Herbivore is receiving online orders through NEON.
